How to measure your clothes

Want to shorten the length on a pair of jeans? Are the sleeves on your shirt too big? Before sending your clothes to us, you can pin them in place according to the desired fit.

For advanced alterations, for example on suits or eveningwear, a fitting may be required.

Hem lengths

We can shorten the hem on jeans, trousers, skirts and dresses. You can pin the hem to the length you’d like it to sit. When measuring the hem, wear a style of shoes or heels you’d wear with the outfit.

  1. Fold the hem inwards to the desired length.
  2. Pin two safety pins across opposite sides of the fold.
  3. You only need to do this on one leg, as we will ensure both legs are adjusted by the same amount.

Shorten sleeves

We can shorten the length of your sleeves from the cuff or shoulder, depending on detailing. You can pin your sleeves according to the length you’d like them to be reduced to.

  1. Anywhere along the arm, pinch the excess fabric until the cuff sits at the desired length.
  2. Pin two safety pins across opposite sides of the pinched material.

Take in waist

We can take in the waist of your trousers and skirts. You can pin your waist to the desired fit. For accuracy, we also recommend sending in your waist and hip measurements. Learn how to measure your body.
