A Very Restory Bank Holiday….

The August bank holiday weekend is fast approaching. It’s an opportunity for a little pick-me-up me before the September mayhem begins. Here is our weekend itinerary for those of you looking for a plan.

THE MINI BREAK

This month Venice has caught our eye; currently a destination for culture vultures, the 57th Venice Biennale is in full swing. The exhibition of contemporary art runs from May to November allowing you to dip in & out at as you please.  Shows are spread across the city, which can make it a marathon to see everything so it’s best to do some small-time research before setting off. It officially takes place in the national pavilions of the Giardini and the former military dockyard The Arsenale. The big fashion houses are the ultimate patrons of the artist’s works. It’s a sure thing you will be joining some art loving, savvy dressers.

The charm of Venice can be found in the endless small cobbled paths. Whilst charming, it can be a mission to navigate in the wrong shoes. If you are day tripping we recommend choosing a great looking pair of trainers. Choose a style with some glitz to carry you from day to night like Minna Parikka’s playful editions. For evening attire make sure your shoes have a block heel to avoid an awkward stiletto wedged in the street. Should you still get caught, The Restory offers a full heel remake.

THE STAYCATION

For those looking for a suitcase free weekend, staying put in your postcode area can guarantee this. Think long lie-ins, Procesco filled brunching and lazy afternoons. We forget how busy life can be. Sometimes it should be a joy to do nothing in particular. Take advantage of the fact you can change your outfit throughout the day with no restrictions on wardrobe access!

This is your opportunity to explore what’s on your doorstep. If only are in the mood to take a lazy walk over the weekend, head for Regents Park to stroll through the carefully curated gardens then venture towards the canal and Primrose hill. The markets in the East End are a treasure filled eclectic mix of flower stalls and ethnic foods, surrounded by cafes and fashionable shops.  On a Saturday go to Broadway Market which also lies close to a canal walk, and on a Sunday you can source your feature house or garden plants at the Colombia Road Flower Market.  Both worth visiting simply for the experience.  Since you have zero commitments or places to be, some low maintenance sliders will work well and add a straw hat for extra bohemia. If you happen be to wearing your freshly purchased No. 21 sliders remember The Restory offer a breaking in service for new shoes to avoid the obligatory blisters we usually suffer from in the name of fashion.
